A bike ride on the beach

The sun was just starting to set
When we rode out on our bikes that night
Warm breeze whipping through our hair
Sand rushing beneath our feet

Wheels whirling, spokes flashing
Gears clicking, chains whizzing
We’re floating, flying, riding, racing

No cars, no lights
No trucks, no motorbikes
Just people and their dogs
Wandering, strolling, enjoying their walk

We dodge and swerve
Circle and swoop
Our way up and down
The Whangamata beach
