Thrive: a great new song from a great band

I was in the Christian bookstore the other day picking up a card for a friend when a new release CD caught my eye – one of my favourite bands Casting Crowns.  Usually I check out review of albums before I buy but I took a stab this time.  Besides, it was the only one there and I might lose out.  Boy, was I in for a treat.  The first song really got my attention.  Even my wife, who was sitting on the couch busy with something else started taking notice.  It’s not just the great catchy start of the song, it’s the lyrics.

We know we were made for so much more than ordinary lives
Its time for us to more than just survive
We were made to thrive

That’s the heart of the Christian life.  If you have a heart that beats for Jesus, this will resonate with you.   This is what it’s all about. What a great song to hear on the way to work or at the end of a tiring day.  Here’s the full lyrics for you – if you have time, check out the video below.

Here in this worn and weary land
Where many a dream has died
Like a tree planted by the water
We never will run dry

So living water flowing through
God, we thirst for more of You
Fill our hearts and flood our souls with one desire

Just to know You and to make You known
We lift Your name on high
Shine like the sun, make darkness run and hide
We know we were made for so much more than ordinary lives
Its time for us to more than just survive
We were made to thrive

Into Your word, were digging deep
To know our Fathers heart
Into the world, were reaching out
To show them who You are

Joy unspeakable, faith unsinkable
Love unstoppable, anything is possible
